With two decades of experience as a Film and Media teacher, Hal has nurtured his students' creative talents by shaping educational programs focused on filmmaking. He has facilitated the production of numerous short films, allowing students to express their unique voices and stories. Hal's supportive environment enables students to explore scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, and editing. Through hands-on experience and personalized guidance, he empowers students to craft compelling visual narratives, fostering confidence and accomplishment. Hal's contributions to film education inspire generations of filmmakers to embrace their creativity and share their stories with the world.

Rebecca Hunt is a Secondary English and Media Studies teacher at St John’s Grammar. She is passionate about giving students the opportunity to develop their skills, build a portfolio, and have authentic experiences. This includes participation in competitions, from a long standing association with the International Youth Silent Film Festival to, more recently, the intense experience of the 48 Hour Film Project. She runs an immersive careers unit at Stage 1, and tailors Stage 2 assignments to students’ career aspirations. Rebecca is an avid trail runner, making on the fly videos of key runs, and has a running podcast Tales From The Midpack

Daniel Charlton heads up the photography and video team at Pro AV Solutions, supplying and supporting the Film & TV, education and government sectors, supplying all of the equipment required to make content. 

He is also an AVID filmmaker for over 20 years with a wealth of knowledge across Camera, Lighting, Sound and Editing.

He often guest lectures across schools and universities Australia wide sharing his industry and equipment knowledge.

In his spare time 😊,  he is the treasurer of ATOM SA, the vice president of the Australian Cinematographers Society (SA) and a volunteer firefighter with the CFS.

Ashleigh Joseph is a Media teacher at Marryatville High School and the Communications Officer for ATOM SA. With 11 years of teaching experience across Media, Visual Arts, Design, and English, Ashleigh is passionate about creative, hands-on learning that connects with contemporary youth culture. Her teaching focuses on practical filmmaking, documentary production, and critical media literacy, with an emphasis on engaging students through authentic creative experiences. Ashleigh enjoys sharing classroom strategies and production techniques that help students develop confidence as storytellers and media creators.

Billie is a South Australian English and Media Studies educator who collaborates widely with students and colleagues to strengthen media literacy and creative confidence. Through her Media Studies programs that blend analytical rigour with creative production, Billie fosters environments where critical thinking, authentic expression, and confidence thrive. Alongside her classroom practice, Billie is a writer and performer, using comedy as a vehicle for storytelling and cultural critique. This dual lens — educator and performer — informs her approach to media education, where analytical rigour sits comfortably alongside creative risk-taking.

Independent event videographer and editor for various companies, Ben Harris is a dedicated Media Artist with a genuine love for “all things Film and Photography”. With a background in South Australian filmmaking, commercial marketing, and SFX, Ben now brings his passion to Secondary School Teaching. A recent graduate from a Masters of Secondary Teaching, he strives to bring enthusiasm to teaching Media. Ben’s contributions to education may only be recent but have already led to students entering the workforce through various career opportunities and collaborations with festivals. Ben’s mission is to inspire the next generation of Media Artists with a genuine approach to teaching and legitimate opportunities for career-mindfulness.
